Taipei Day 1 - Shida Night Market

Back from my Taiwan trip! Already missing that place very much. Really loved the landscape, food and people there. Taiwanese are such friendly and helpful people! :) Felt so welcomed during the entire trip.

So for my grad trip, I travelled with Jem, Leks and Wj. ^^ My first 'double date' holiday - how eggciting. Took an overnight Scoot flight to Taipei, and I was pretty much zombified when we landed at the Tao Yuan Internation Airport. I face a lot of difficulty falling asleep on planes, so yeah, not a fan of overnight flights ):

I guess I wasn't the only one feeling sleepy!
Had like 9 hours till check-in to our hotel, so we aimlessly walked around the underground malls at Taipei Main Station. Didn't buy anything except for a pair of kitty stockings, cos the quality and design of apparels weren't good. Lunch was at a Ramen restaurant! Looking at the ramen pics just makes me droool. :)

3 eggs in 1 ramen bowl! DAYUMS

Each bowl of ramen was only around NT 200, which is SGD $8+? Decent price for such a hearty bowl of ramen.

What's up with Jem's ANTM pose ahaha
Caught a much-needed nap after check-in! :) We stayed at Ta Shun Hotel in Ximending; a hotel I highly recommend. The room was extremely cosy and clean, and service was excellent. We only paid about SGD $50 per pax per night (inclusive of breakfast), which is very well worth it given the central location.

Our comfy bed for 6 nights

Explored Shida Night market afterwards, but was slightly disappointed to find out that the market has been reduced in size by the government. Nonetheless, we managed to try pancakes, smelly toufu, chocolate crepe, bubble tea and some yong tao foo like noodles! Yums :D

Shida Night Market
Similar to our Mr Bean pancake, except that the flour is a lot more crispy!
Pancake above costs NT 10, which is less than SGD 50 cents! :)

My first BBT in Taiwan ^^

This milk tea tasted a lot like our Teh Peng. Btw, as you would expect, BBT is really cheap in Taiwan. They only sell in Medium and Large sizes (& by large I mean extra large), and you won't expect a cup to exceed SGD $2.

Also tried smelly toufu under the persuasion of Jem! The guys liked it, but Lek and I didn't! >.<

Smelly toufu; conquered!
I'll be back with Day 2 soon!
