Saveur - Far East Plaza

Had a very lovely Valentine's Day celebration with Jem last evening, which I'm about to share with you. (: As we're both lovers of French food, Jem made a reservation at Saveur because we heard that if offers quality French cuisine at an affordable price.

This was our special menu for the day:

Valentine's Day Menu
Liked the biblical quote that came with the menu: "A bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate. Indeed, it's the company that really matters (:

This bread platter arrived while we were waiting for our starters. The round bread was really good; super soft and warm. Went perfectly with butter. The other bread type was tougher and not so much to my liking.

For starters, I was served the Nicoise Salad while Jem had Prawn bisque. Despite not being a huge fan of salads, I finished this plate, so I must say it was not too bad. I thought the 3D presentation was a good effort too.

The prawn bisque had an extremely strong seafood and somewhat 'fishy' taste to it. Personally, I found the seafood taste to be slightly overwhelming. But Jem enjoyed this plate of soup nonetheless. :)

The mains were better than the starters. My red snapper was really well done. The flesh was extremely tender and skin crisp. It was one of the best red snapper dish I've had in a long time, and I really enjoyed it! Two thumbs up for this dish.

The highlight of the meal was probably this dish. Jem was full of praise for this Pot-Au-Feu because the beef was extremely tender, and soup bursting with flavour. He even asked for his compliments to be passed to the chef, who later came out to explain how this dish was prepared. This plate of beef was braised for over 8 hours to bring out the intensity of flavour.

Before we ended the meal with desserts, one of the staff kindly volunteered to help us take Polaroids for keep-sake. (: It was very kind of them to give us 2 pictures, so that we each could have a captured memory of the day. I have to add that the service was excellent throughout, making our experience extremely memorable.

Triple chocolate for dessert! I love chocolate and desserts, so this combination was a great one!

We also ordered Foie Gras in addition to the Valentine's Menu. The Foie Gras was tender and very flavourful. I've no idea what seasoning went into it, but I would sure love to find out! Imo this Foie Gras was cooked to perfection.
