I've been a fan of ramen recently, which is funny because I didn't really use to like it. I guess our tastes & preferences do change with time. Anyway I visited Menya Mushashi at Ion Orchard a few weeks back with nette. (:
The menu was quite interesting because they offered white, black and red soup bases. Wasn't too sure what each colour meant though, so I opted for a red soup base, with the assumption that red represented a spicy broth haha.
Despite the lacklustre reviews I saw online, I really enjoyed this bowl of ramen! The noodles were thicker than typical ramen found in other restaurants, but had a nice bouncy texture to it. If you like your noodles thick and QQ, then you'll probably enjoy this as much as I did. While the broth wasn't rave-worthy, the ingredients made up for it. Yolk was semi runny and chashu (pork slices) was soft and tender. I also liked the addition of the beancurd skin! :)
Nette ordered another type of ramen which allowed you to request for up to 5x the amount of noodles! Suitable for really hungry people hahaha.

Even more recently, I visited Lowercase Cafe at Laselle Arts School. Ever since I walked past this cafe a few months back, I've been wanting to try it!
What makes this cafe so attractive at first glance is its spacious layout and artistic vibe. I really love that I could enjoy my meal and conversations at a distance from the surrounding tables, unlike many other cafes which are so crammed that they lose the essence of providing a laid-back environment. The food was pretty good too!
Drinks my friends and I ordered:
Ice Lemon Tea was pretty sour and dilute; not my favourite. Iced chocolate was very well done though; it had a smooth consistency and nice chocolatey taste to it! Not too sweet either. I enjoyed the latte too cos it wasn't too bitter and had a nice aroma to it.

Very happy that I finally got to try a Rainbow cake! Pretty Instagram pictures of this cake have been tempting me for the longest time... hahaha. It's such a feast for the eyes ^^
The cafe staff were very nice to help me customize the presentation of the cake! It was Tracy's bday that day so we wanted to surprise her :)
Carbonara was pretty tasty except that the noodles were slightly undercooked.
Garlic fries were a disappointment though. Was expecting a bucket of fries with garlic salt sprinkled over, but it turned out to be ordinary fries with some garlic mayo. Nothing spectacular.
Overall, I really recommend this cafe for its cosy environment and affordable prices! I forsee myself coming back again in the near future to chill with my friends.
