Looking for a perfect Valentine's Day dinner?

I have decided to be more diligent in blogging. Hahaha hope this motivation lasts (:

Anyway, since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, I shall share my thoughts about this special occasion. It's important to me to celebrate V-Day, because it's a way of showing appreciation to my other half. While we show signs of appreciation to each other on a continual basis, I believe that my boyf should feel extra special on significant dates like V-Day! It's kinda like "I want him to feel extra special" especially since the mood is in the air, rather than a mere obligation to. (: And to me, extravagant gifts are not necessary. Quality time & sincere acts of love are most important!

For friends who might be still looking for a nice yet pocket-friendly place to celebrate V-Day, here are some suggestions:

1) Lowercase Cafe

Located at the Laselle College of Arts, this cafe boasts a very spacious interior. I haven't tried the food personally; simply walked past this cafe the other day and was impressed by the decor and ambience. It has a very artistic feel to it (no wonder it's in an arts school!) and the combination of high ceiling, warm lighting and simple arrangement of furniture gives it a relaxed yet chic ambience. Apparently, there is a good variety and quality of food at nett prices! For V-Day menus & reservations, you may wanna check out their FB page.

2) Standing Sushi Bar

Standing Sushi Bar Queens Street

One of my fav places to eat sashimi! Hahaha. In case you didn't know, they have sashimi promotions every Monday! 5 slices for only $3, and I'm talking about generous portions. Not those thinly sliced sashimi you find at Sakae at Sushi Express haha. Looks good right?

Fresh, healthy, hand-sliced salmon sashimi.  We get the whole fish on-site
and then slice it down for you to enjoy.
$3 sashimi platter

Anyway, for V-Day, they have a V-Day menu at $59.90 per couple. I think it's quite reasonably priced given that most other restaurants are charging sky-high priced couple meals. I celebrated V-Day here last year, and the food was pretty good! :) Pictures of my meal last year:

Appetizer 1: Assorted Sashimi Platter
Appetizer 2: 3 types of cold dish
Appetizer 3: Ebi Misoyaki
Mains: Chanwanmushi with salmon misoyaki pasta
Dessert: Macha cheesecake with ice cream
They are having the same menu for V-Day this year, so if you like what you see, you can check out their website for reservations! I would recommend it to Jap-lovers out there (:

3) Foodology

If you can't decide what cuisine to have this Valentine's, Foodology might be the restaurant to go! They provide French, Western, Italian and Asian food, leaving you spoilt for choice. Located at Marina Bay Link Mall, this place also provides you the added convenience of strolling along the scenic Marina Bay after your meal.

I couldn't find a V-Day menu on their website, so you will have to call to check if interested. For normal food items on their menu, be prepared to spend approx $20 per pax! If you're intending to splurge a little more on appetizers and drinks in addition to mains, then you'll prolly spend approx $30 per pax.

Here's a peek of some of their food items which I ordered previously:

Bacon wrapped scallops. Absolutely delish!

Fish & Chips and some Beef Burger with Salad
Add a glass of beer to refreshingly end off your meal and toast to a wonderful evening!
Food-wise, I would say it's pretty good, like 8/10. Food ranged from good to delicious (everything met expectations) and the servings are generous. Also very reasonably priced given the quality and ambience. I liked the spacious concept and dim blue lighting, because it was a good ambience to just sit and chit-chat casually with great company.

4) Fort Canning

If you are looking for a cheaper option, why not try a picnic at Fort Canning? Prepare some home-cooked food or simply takeaway your favourite bites and enjoy a quiet evening under the stars (: Sometimes, simplicity is pure bliss.

Hopefully my post has given some inspiration to those still brainstorming for a perfect Valentine's date! Till the next time xxx.
